Prepare for an hour of quiet practice
This 60-minute meditation timer opens at 60:00 for an extended session. An hour is an option, not a target everyone needs to reach. Choose it when you have enough time and a practice that feels comfortable to continue. A shorter session is always available.
Arrange your space before pressing Begin
- Choose a supportive seat and keep any cushions or layers within reach.
- Leave time after the hour so you do not need to jump straight into another commitment.
- Check your sound settings and volume before putting your device aside.
- Decide whether recurring chimes will help or interrupt your practice.
Use a familiar practice rather than a rigid schedule
You might spend the first few minutes settling, continue with awareness of natural breathing, and leave the closing minutes for noticing your body and surroundings. The timer does not guide these transitions. If you already follow a practice, use its structure instead of trying to fit this outline.
Over a longer sit, thoughts, restlessness and changes in comfort may come and go. You can open your eyes, adjust your position, pause, or end. The hour is not a test of endurance.
Choose silence or recurring five-minute reminders
With five-minute intervals enabled, the timer gives eleven reminders before the ending bell. That is a frequent cue over an hour; turn intervals off if you prefer fewer interruptions. This timer currently offers one-minute or five-minute intervals, not fifteen-minute segments.
Questions about the 60-minute timer
Is one hour better than a shorter session?
This page does not promise better results from a longer duration. Choose a length that suits your practice and schedule. The 20- and 30-minute timers are alternatives.
Can I play background audio with the screen locked?
Yes. On mobile, choose your sounds and press Begin, then lock the screen. Keep the timer tab open for the session. Read the mobile playback instructions.
Does it stop music playing in another app?
No. This timer controls its own audio only. It does not act as a sleep timer for other apps or streaming services.
